    Author Notes:

    The year is 2017. Angelica has decided to live with Bette, but misses her Mama. Bette and Angelica invite Tina over for dinner.

     

     

    Chapter 11

     

    Tina was being chased by something she could not see, but rather felt closing in on her in the dark, dank space.  A musty smell filled her nose as it came closer and her heart began to race at dangerous, thumping speed.  Somehow she knew that only one exit held salvation.  

     

    She woke with a start, knowing that the falling sensation was not real, but holding onto the bed tightly anyway.  “Symbolism much?” she thought to herself as she cleared her mind of the images and took in gulps of air to slow her heart rate.

    “So where’s your baby girl?” Alice called out to Tina as she made her way across the coffee shop.

     

    “She’s with Bette,” Tina answered while pulling over a chair and settling in.

     

    “Not this week.  Wait am I confused?  I have been getting mixed up in my days recently, although I’m a little young for senior moments, don’t ya think?  Last week I showed up on Thursday, or at least I think it was Thursday, for a laser appointment that was actually scheduled for…” Alice babbled.

     

    “No, Angelica is living with Bette.” Tina interrupted.

     

    “Living, as in all the time?” Alice questioned.

     

    “Yes.” Tina said quietly.

     

    “Holy fuck!  What’s that all about?”

     

    “She said she wanted to live in one house rather than two, and she chose Bette’s.”

     

    “Oh my God, T.  This must be killing you!” Alice slammed down her latte, splashing herself and Tina, while leaning over and hugging Tina tightly.  Tina moved to pull herself out the grip, but Alice just held her even tighter until Tina’s resolve to be composed was crushed by Alice’s grip.  She cried onto Alice’s shoulder, disappointed with her inability to appear nonchalant.

    Bette and Tina sat on the couch after dinner, and Angelica, dressed for bed, came over to kiss her moms good night. 

     

    “You’re going to bed a little early aren’t you?”  Tina asked.

     

    “I’m exhausted!  I had a double-hitter after school today and I stayed up late last night finishing the last 200 pages of my English book.”

     

    “Sleep well sweetie,” Bette said, kissing Angie on the cheek.
