Wings of An Angel – Bette and Tina – Chapter 6
Previously – Chapter 5 Meanwhile, back at Tina’s office, her optimism was short lived when Samantha came knocking on the door with bad news. “Tina, you are not going to like this”. Tina didn’t need to ask Samantha what she was referring to, “How bad is it, Sam?”
“We had a slight malfunction with the cells; nothing serious I’m sure”. Tina raised her eyebrows in disbelief and repeated her question again, “How bad is it, Sam?”. Making sure to keep the cluttered desk between them, Sam confessed, “Our shipment got contaminated with sea water. We won’t know the extent of the damages until a surveyor is sent to inspect the ship. There is a possibility that we lost everything”. Tina places her face in her open palms while resting her elbows on the desk. She closes her eyes and mentally counts to ten before asking, “When will we know for sure?”. Immediately feeling the distress level rise, Samantha timidly stated, “The insurer said about a week”. Tina, not having moved from her baffled position simply said, “That will put us back two weeks, Sam. We have a meeting with the investors scheduled for Wednesday. Could this day get any worse?”. ____________________________________________________________
Friday Night – The Planet
At 7:30 in the evening, the Planet was thoroughly uninhabited of individuals when Bette and Tina walked through the doors of the popular establishment. Tina thought this to be an absolute mystery, but it didn’t faze Bette at all; actually she was more pleased than anything to know that her plan had come together perfectly. They were greeted at the door by the same waiter who served them lunch on that fateful Monday afternoon; a handsome young man with dark brown hair and misty green eyes. With a boyish charming smile he said, “Ladies, it’s a pleasure to see you again. Let me show you to your table this evening”. Bette and Tina were guided out onto the veranda which displayed a lovely table decorated with a lavender linen cloth, glacial china plates and glasses set for two, stainless steel cutlery and glowing candles. The secluded gazebo style veranda was ornamented with white crystal hanging lights, tall potted green vinery plants gently swaying in the air conditioned breeze, an aroma therapy waterfall swimming playfully near their feet and, unnoticed by Tina, silently sitting in the shadows is a live orchestra of one.
Bette looks at the gentleman and says, “Henry, we will begin with the appetizers and then dinner”. Before leaving, Henry slightly bows his head and replies, “Yes, Ms. Porter”. Bette returns her attention to see the most beautiful sight; Tina standing in the midst of her surprise. Tina is flabbergasted and speechless. She barely realizes that Bette slides her right hand within her left to softly give it warming squeeze. Still unnerved by Bette’s unexpected present she is lead to one of the chairs, which Bette pulls out for Tina to sit in. Bette takes her place at her side and begins to fill their glasses with the red wine that was being kept cold in an iceberg trolley. Tina slowly begins coming back to life to ask in wonder, “How . . .when . . . how did you manage to do this? I don’t understand how you were able to convince Kit to . . .”, she lost the ability to voice her thoughts any further. Bette provocatively answers, “I have my ways, Ms. Kennard. The more you get to know me, the more you will see all of me”. Tina breathes in her surroundings and smiles as she realizes that the candles are scented jasmine.
“What’s the smile for T?”. Tina doesn’t respond right away. Instead she caresses Bette with her eyes trying to comprehend her fortune in finding her; in finding the true essence of her being. As her thoughts scramble within her clustered mine she envisions the delicate beauty staring lovingly into her hazel embers; pleading for a response. Tina takes a breath and upon doing so smells the scent of jasmine again; a scent that reminds Tina of her favorite flower; a flower that mentally captures her most desired fantasies. With her eyes telling her silent story and with heartfelt emotion, Tina speaks, “The smile is for you Bette. Thank you for this”. Bette sensed something was wrong with Tina when she called her again later on in the day; she felt her woman feeling sad and despaired. Bette knew she had to go the extra mile tonight to bring back that gleam in Tina’s eyes. She immediately called Kit and told her of what she wanted to do; Kit had no qualms on helping out after being convinced that Bette was really serious about her; serious enough to tell Tina the truth about the both of them one day.
Bette shakes out those thoughts to concentrate on Tina; the sole purpose of her evening. She glides her hand diagonally across the table and takes a hold of Tina’s hand to say, “I don’t know what happened to spoil the rest of your day, but I was hoping to put a smile on your face”. Tina, whose eyes resemble a forest fire blazing out of control, is touched beyond words and confirms, “You did more than that”. Subconsciously, Tina thinks to herself, ‘You stole my heart’. As if she was able to read Tina’s thought, Bette slides her chair closer so that she is only sitting mere inches away from her. Bette crosses the short distance to taste the only food she needs to feed off, Tina’s mouth. Bette and Tina drown in their own world of dreams to land in a timeless zone of eternity serenity. The combination of their wine tainted tongues enticed the flavor of extreme passion to newer heights. Bette and Tina moan their desire into each others mouth to have it swallowed by the other; swallowed with a hint of teasing grace to be released over and over again. To Bette, she would always starve for her, for Tina would always be the succulent one. So consumed with the kiss, neither heard Henry make an entrance bringing the tantalizing appetizers to place on the table to the right of them and exists just as quickly as he entered.
The aroma soon compels Bette to ask, “Are you hungry, T?”, as she breaks the kiss only to linger against Tina’s thoroughly lavished mouth. Bette marginally controls the need to swallow her whole. “Is that a trick question, Bette?”, Tina asks as she tingles with the feel of Bette’s lips teasing hers ever so enticingly; her breathing shallow. “I want to feed you. I want to satisfy your hunger”. Bette purrs swaying her lips left to right against Tina’s mouth. “Then feed me, Bette”. Tina looks into her eyes conveying the double meaning of her statement.
Bette slowly lifts her upper body away from Tina noticing the coolness of the night; aware that being around Tina continuously scorched her body with heat. Bette surveys the variety of food, picks up a mozzarella stick (to firstly dip within the salsa sauce) and brings it to Tina’s mouth. Tina obliges entrance by opening her mouth so that Bette can slide the tasty morsel along her tongue. Tina closes her lips around the cheese entre to shape a perfect small ‘O’, uses her teeth to bite the morsel in half and begins to chew. “How does it taste?”, Bette asks as she watches Tina’s mouth move. Instead of answering her, Tina removes the half eaten stick from Bette’s finger to repeat the same steps that Bette did prior to feeding her. Tina dips the entre into the sauce and brings it to Bette’s mouth, which she opens with pleasure glaring in her eyes. Tina watches in fascination as Bette nibbles on the last bit of cheese to have her mind imagine Bette chewing on her instead; nibbling on her neck, gnawing on her ***** to lick her way to her throbbing core to take a bite of Tina’s offering. Tina suddenly finds it difficult to breathe. Bette smiles at Tina’s reaction and answers her own question, “Hmmmm . . . taste almost as sweet as you”.
“You have a bit of sauce left on your lip”, Tina says as she stares at the liquid making a trail down Bette’s chin. As Bette turns to the table to reach for a napkin, Tina lays her hand atop of Bette’s and continues with, “No, let me”. When Bette returns her undivided attention back to Tina she leans forward and opens her mouth to allow the freedom of her tongue to slide out. She uses the tip of her warm drench tongue to completely clean the seasoned dip off of Bette; starting with her chin to work her way to Bette’s lips where Tina’s tongue lingers. Tina decides to answer Bette’s question after all with “Hmmmm . . . taste almost as spicy as you” as she enters space between them. Bette thinks to herself, ‘I never knew that dinner could be so enticing’. Once Bette was able to plant both of her feet on solid ground after floating on cloud nine, and with the rest of the food forgotten, Bette stands and says, “Dance with me”. Tina is taken back slightly and stands with her a few feet away from the table and says, “But there is no music” as she is embraced in the loving feel of Bette’s arm. Bette intensely looks in Tina eyes and says, “Don’t you hear it, T. The music is the sound of our beating hearts”. Tina simply melts as she stares into Bette’s open soul. When she feels the warm touch of Tina wrapping her securely in her arms Bette continues to hold Tina’s embers and finishes with, “And the melody of words are singing to us right now”. Bette nods in the direction of the far left corner of the created gazebo for the violinist to begin playing.
Tina is startled as she hears the string instrument make its presence known; a wonderful composition playing for two. With tears pooling on her face, Tina begins, “Bette”, but that is as far as she got when Bette interrupted her to say, “Just dance with me T. Let the music and me take you away. Take you away from your troubles of today”. All Tina can do is rest her head against Bette’s shoulder as she closes her eyes without fear. She embraces Bette tighter and permits her to take her to a new develop world; a place built just for the two of them. The violinist is enthralled of the love she witnesses surrounding the two women and as she begins a new musical selection, the strings of the violin starts to play the Commodores’, ‘Three Times A Lady’; a musical theme telling a tale of new beginnings and happily ever-afters. Bette recognizes the medley for what it is and is compelled to serenade the love of her life. She tips her head to bring her lips against Tina’s soft hair and as she feels the outline of Tina’s ear, Bette beings,
