Chapter two

The sun carefully sneaked through the blinds and woke Bette up. It was only 6 a.m., so Bette still had plenty of time before work. She took a shower, got dressed, gathered her things for work and decided to have breakfast at the Planet. It was a nice place to have breakfast and she caught herself hoping to find Tina there, which she did. Tina was seated with a bunch of other women at a table and when she saw Bette, she stood up and walked over to her.
Tina: “Hey Bette. It’s nice to see you again.”
Tina gave Bette a quick kiss on the cheek and Bette could see the looks of confusion on the other women’s faces.
Bette: “It’s nice to see you to Tina.”
Tina: “You can come sit at our table if you want to.”
Bette: “Sure your friends don’t mind?”
Tina: “Na, they are probably dying to know who you are by now. Especially Alice, the blonde one. Watch out for her or she’ll eat you alive with all her questions.”
Bette: “I’m sure I can handle her.”
They both smiled at each other and joined Tina’s friends at the table.

Tina: “Guys, this is Bette Porter. She’s my new neighbor. Bette, this is Dana…”
Dana: “Hi, nice to meet you Bette.”
Tina: “Shane…”
Shane: “Hey.”
Tina: “and Alice.”
Alice: “Good to see you Porter. By the way, do you have a girlfriend?”
Bette: “No but I bet you just know the perfect person for me, don’t you?”
Alice: “In fact I do, you see, as a reporter I tend to know everything.”
Bette: “Really? Isn’t that wonderful for you.”
Alice: “Yes it is.”
Tina: “All right Al, cut it of. I’m gonna go get another cup of coffee. Anybody wants something?”
Shane: “No, I’m fine Tina, thanks.”
Dana: “No me neither, still got plenty left.”
Alice: “No thanks Tina.”
Tina: “You, Bette?”
Bette: “I’ll just come with you. I haven’t had breakfast yet so I’ll get something to eat to.”
Tina: “Okay. We’ll be right back.”

Tina and Bette walked to the counter and were greeted by Marina.
Marina: “Hey Tina. How are you today?”
Tina: “Great, thanks. This is Bette Porter, she’s lives to doors next to me.”
Bette: “Hi, nice to meet you.”
Marina: “It’s nice to meet you to. So, what would you girls like?”
Tina: “I’ll just have another cup of coffee. And you Bette?”
Bette: “I’ll have a cup of coffee and a bagel.”
Marina: “All right, here you go. It’s on the house.”
Tina: “Thanks Marina, I’ll see you later this afternoon?”
Marina: “Sure I’ll still be working. What about you Bette, will you be here?”
Bette: “I’ll drop by for a cup of coffee after work.”
Marina: “I’ll see you guys later then.”
