Artistic Awakening – (Chapter: Chapter 19)

—Phone Conversation in Italics & as always song lyrics in Bold

God I’m exhausted! I just got back to LA, I couldn’t get any sleep on the plane so freakin demon kid kept kicking my seat. It took less time at Jackie’s than I thought it would, she must’ve had Sean’s cousins help her to because I was out of their in like two hours. It’s one o’clock here, time difference and all. I dropped my bags as soon as I walked into my dorm room. Throwing myself on the bed face first, I tiredly pulled out my cell phone sending Ashley a text that I was back, like I promised I would. It seemed like seconds later my phone was ringing…I smiled knowing exactly who it was.

    -“Hello”
-“Hey there beautiful. How was the trip back?”
-“Long, some idiot person decided to let their spawn kick on my seat the whole time.
-“Awww..I’m sorry why don’t you take a nap, you sound tired babe.”
-“I think I will take a nap before its time for the opening.”
-“Spence, honey you don’t have to come to that, what with everything that happened, I understand……”
-“I cut her off, “Ash, I wanna come. I cant hide away in my room. I need to be around people I care about right now and try to have fun, okay. Believe me Sean would want it that way.”
-I could practically hear the smile in her voice, then I realized what I had said. Oh well..it was the truth I get care about her, more than I ever let her know about though. “Okay babe..Ima let you nap, call me if you need me. Sweet dreams beautiful.
-“Bye Ash.”, my cheeks a bit flushed.

I set an alarm to make sure I’d have time to get ready for tonight, taking the phone and tossed in aimlessly on the table beside me. I sank into the comfort of my pillows, smiling as I breathed in the smell of Ashley that lingered on my pillows from hanging with her the other day. That smell alone comforted me and I fell asleep.

    Earlier that day…

I just got back from Ohio. I hated leaving her like that. No matter how many times she insisted she was going to be okay, I didn’t believe her. Her eyes told the truth, those beautiful blue eyes that made become my biggest weakness, they told me just how broken she was. But, I had to get back for my test or so she told me I had to, if it were up to me I would’ve said screw it and stayed with her. I knew though in the back of my mind she was right, this test was important but, not as important as her. That is where I am now, sitting on the floor, leaning my back against the wall with my eyes closed, my acoustic in its case beside me. All I can think about is her..like always! Spencer Carlin has consumed me. I’m not nervous about this test like you would think. Nope.. I’ve had the song picked out the day we got the assignment a month ago. Though on the plane ride back from being with Spencer I knew I had to change it. I needed to do this song! “Alright Ashley, your turn.”, I opened my eyes to see my teacher smiling down at me. I stood up and walking into the room, bringing my guitar with me. I sat down on the stool while my teacher took a seat in the chair in front on me. My guitar in my lap, “Okay Ashley whenever you’re ready.”, the teacher said with a small smile. I whispered two words softly before I began to play…
