Spencer’s Pov

My mom actually managed to make it home for dinner tonight. My whole family sat around the table, even Madison was here. GAG!

Paula: “Spencer, how was your day?”
Spencer: “It was good, but I do have a question for you and dad.”
Arthur: “Go ahead, sweetheart.”
Spencer: “Ashley wanted me to go with her on a trip during winter break.”
Arthur: “That’s fantastic. Where to?”
Spencer: “A ski trip in Canada for a few days then she wants to fly out to London.”
Paula: “We will have to talk about this. I don’t want you flying all over the country unsupervised. Plus, I don’t know if we would have the money to send you to all of these places. It wouldn’t be fair if we did that for you and didn’t spend the exact same for your brothers.”
Spencer: “It’s my Christmas gift from Ashley. She said I wouldn’t be allowed to pay a dime.”
Arthur: “That’s very generous of her.”
Madison: “That’s because she probably wants a DIFFERENT kind of payment from Spencer.”

Everyone snapped their heads in her direction.

Paula: “Wait, what does that mean?”
Madison: “Sounds like Ashley is planning a lovers get away.”
Arthur: “Just because she wants Spencer to go with her doesn’t mean anything bad. I think its very nice of Ashley.”
Madison: “We all know Ashley wants more from Spencer. She is the school lesbian after all.”
Paula: “Spencer, is that true?”
Spencer: “Mom! This isn’t  some lovers get away. I am Ashley’s friend whether she is or isn’t gay.  I couldn’t care less what she is. She is still a wonderful person.”
Paula: “I don’t think we should let you go. This isn’t  something I want you exposed to. Plus you will be halfway across the country Spencer. That worries me.”
Spencer: “Mom, you are going to sit here and listen to STD queen gossip about Ashley. She hates her of course she is going to try and ruin everything.”

I was so mad I had to use Ashley’s insult against her. It was a good one after all. And probably true.

Madison: “HEY!”
Paula: “Spencer that is ENOUGH! Excuse yourself.”
Arthur: “Paula we REALLY need to talk about this. Let Spencer finish her dinner and then we will talk.”

Everyone else sat in silence eating, but I was no longer hungry. I did excuse myself and I ran to call Ashley.
