    I carry you in my heart… – (Chapter: 3)

i walked through king high’s long hallways, raving mad. i didn’t wanna be here. my mom never cared if i skipped school before, why all of a sudden she decided to be a parent was beyond me. i didn’t wanna leave my room, i wanted to stay in bed all day, eat ice cream, and watch soap operas. i wanted to spend the rest of my life hiding from spencer. thinking of her brought a tear to my eye. i continued walking, brushing the tears away as i went. i felt like everyone could see my broken heart. i’ve never felt so vunerable, i thought to myself. i stopped outside my classroom and inhaled deeply. a wave of dizziness hit me hard and i almost fell to the ground. a class with spencer, i thought, wishing i could evaporate. i took another deep breath and walked into the room. my eyes quickly searched for the blonde goddess. she was sitting across the room chatting with a few cheerleaders. her normal seat was next to me but it was obvious she wasn’t going to sit there. i felt like crying again but held the tears back as best i could. i sat in my seat and put my face in my hands. i felt lower than dirt and i was sure i looked like it too.

"hi." i heard a small voice say from next to me. suprised, i jerked my head up. a slender girl was sitting in spencer’s old seat. she had a cute jean skirt on and a revealing top. her hair was a golden brown with a small wave to it. she was smiling at me. i smiled back with the little happiness i had.

"my name’s shelly, i just moved here from tennessee." she had a soft voice and her accent gave her an innocent quality.

"um hi… i’m ashley." i replied. i figured she sensed i wasn’t in the best mood because she didn’t speak to me after that. all through class i repeatedly caught myself staring at spencer. hearing her tell me that she couldn’t love me. it had left a hole in my heart that i knew i could never mend. i could feel myself slipping into depression. as soon as the bell rang i bolted for the door, not bothering to look back.

"ashley! wait!" someone called from behind me. oh my god, i thought, that’s spencer… hasn’t she hurt me enough? keep walking, i told myself, but my legs wouldn’t cooperate. i turned around and waited for the person who broke my heart to catch up to me.
