Forever Yours – (Chapter: Chapter 11: Burn)

"Oh, Caleb! How wonderful to see you.  Spencer will be down in a second," Paul said cheerfully, relieved that her daughter was spending time with a male.

Caleb nodded and smiled pleasantly – or ‘gentlemanly’ rather.  "Thank you, Mrs. Carlin."

"I’m so glad that Spencer’s finally getting to know someone other than on of her own gender.  You know what I mean?"

    Caleb nodded graciously, "Yes, ma’am."

"Mom!" Spencer whined as she clomped down the stairs.  She was aware that her mother was expressing her disapprovement toward her sexuality.  "Stop, please.  Caleb knows that I’m gay."

Paula rolled her eyes and retreated to the kitchen.  "I’m sorry, Caleb.  She gets…"

Caleb placed a finger upon Spencer’s lips.  "My mother is like that sometimes.  No worries, Spencer."  Caleb smiled brightly as he realized what Spencer was wearing.

    "What?"

Caleb shook his head, "You look beautiful, that’s all."

Spencer began to blush profusely as she smoothed out her blue satin dress.  "Thanks," she replied almost inaudibly.

"My pleasure," the British man said, taking Spencer’s hand lightly in his own, "Shall we?"

    Spencer smiled softly, "Absolutely."

"It’s wild tonight!" Spencer yelled over the blaring music of Egocentric.  Caleb nodded in agreement.

"I’ll get drinks," Caleb said into Spencer’s ear.  Spencer found a seat across from the dancefloor.  Caleb soon returned with a Corona and a martini.

"Martini for the little lady," he said, handing her the glass.  Spencer smiled warmly at him before taking a sip.  They watched people dance by for a while, afraid to ask one another to go onto the dancefloor.  But upon realizing that one of those "people" was her exgirlfriend, Spencer gathered her stuff and ordered Caleb to take her somewhere else.

    "But, why?" he stammered.

But before Spencer could reply, Ashley’s voice inquired, "Spencer? Spencer Carlin?"

Spencer groaned and turned to face the Latina.  "Hi," she said calmly.

"What are you doing here? With him? Are you two, like, hanging out for the night or something?"

Before Spencer could answere, Caleb interjected arrogantly, "Dating, actually."

"What?!" Spencer and Ashley shrieked simultaneously.

"Dating?" the Latina cried, truly hurt by the word.

    "Ash, it’s…"

    "What, Spence? It’s complicated?"

Spencer remained silent and all that was heard was Caleb snickering.  Infuriated, Ashley slapped him violently across the face.  "Keep laughing, Brit!" She screamed, angry tears rolling down her cheeks, "Keep sniggering.  It’s supposed to be funny to you! Laugh.  I told you to fucking laugh, Caleb!"

Caleb wasn’t laughing at that point.  In fact, half of Ego had stopped to see what the commotion was about.  Ashley Davies was known for her ability to bitchslap anyone: male, female, animal.  Angry tears kept rolling as the brunetted turned to flee the club.

Spencer caught the sleeve of Ashley’s jacket and whispered, "Don’t go, please."

"I can’t stay, Spence.  I can’t see you with him."

"Then, you don’t have to," She replied, dragging Ashley out into the street.

Ashley remained silent.  "For three months, I tried to convince myself that I could live without you in my life, Ash.  But every damn minute, I found myself dying even more on the inside.  It took me so long to realized that I do need you.  More than anything, Ash."

Angry tears transformed into joyful tears as Spencer pressed her lips to the brunette’s.  Everything, finally, felt whole again.  Spashley was back on.  Aiden wasn’t in the hospital.  And Brit was put back in his place.

Think that’s the end? THINK AGAIN.
