The Perfect Girl – (Chapter: Truth or Dare)

    Ch.6
Spencer looked back and forth from Ashley and the mysterious girl named Jenny. What was going on? Hadn’t …Ashley said this girl’s name in her sleep that one night? Jenny’s painted lips twisted into a rather menacing smile. “Nice to see you again.” Jenny said smoothly, her eyes boring into Ashley’s. “And who’s this you brought along with you?” Jenny asked, pretending that Spencer wasn’t even there; she didn’t even bother to acknowledge her with a glance. “Spencer.” Ashley squeaked out. Spencer tensed up. What was so special about Jenny that she made Ashley lose her charm and her confidence and instead stiffen up like a board? “Is she in your grade? I’ve never seen her before.” Jenny remarked. “No…she’s a sophomore.” Ashley replied rather nervously, loosening her grip on Spencer’s hand. Jenny snorted. “Really, Ashley, I knew you were devastated when we had to part ways, but I never imagined you’d ever date anyone younger. You can do much better, my Ash-y boo.” Jenny cooed, getting closer to Ashley until their faces were almost touching. To Spencer, Jenny resembled a conniving snake, hissing with her forked tongue as she slithered closer to her prey. Jenny caressed the side of Ashley’s face with her hand, causing Ashley to close her eyes and shudder a little as if she was in a trance. Spencer cleared her throat, jarring both of them from their little moment. Jenny whipped her head and stared Spencer down. “Sorry, but Ashley’s kind of…my date to Sadies if you don’t mind.” Spencer said rather boldly. Ashley looked at Spencer if she had just seen her for the first time. “See you later.” Jenny hissed into Ashley’s ear, walking away from Ashley and towards Aiden. Ashley looked as if she’d seen a ghost. Her face was pale and her hands had suddenly gone cold. “Who was that?” Spencer asked, hoping for an answer. “Ex.” Ashley squeaked out, sitting down and putting her head into her hands.
Spencer hugged Ashley. “Are you ok Ash?” she said, concerned. “I’m ok.” Ashley replied hoarsely. Spencer saw Ashley’s eyes shimmering with unshed tears. “I’m here.” She said, holding Ashley tightly. Ashley’s sorrowful state allowed Spencer to get closer to her through trying to comfort her. Ashley sniffled. “I’m sorry, Spence, but, do you mind if I just go home now? I’m really not feelin’ like partying or whatever anymore tonight. Do you need a ride home?” Spencer’s face fell. In a matter of minutes, Jenny had ruined what would’ve been a perfect evening out with Ashley. Ashley noticed how devastated the poor girl looked and invited Spencer to her house as a consolation. Spencer frowned, wondering if it was going to be worth being at Ashley’s house if Ashley was in such a gloomy mood. What if she just ignored her the entire time? How awkward would that be? Still, Spencer couldn’t say no to Ashley and obliged.
