Spencer bites “The Big Apple” – (Chapter: Chapter Two: New York Meets the Carlin’s.)
Chapter 2
The flight from California to New York was exhausting. Glen kept eating all the good snacks and hogging all of the blankets. Spencer just looked out the window hoping for another chance at success. She fell asleep dreaming of the new obstacles that were to come. She was awakened by her dad yelling.
"Welcome to your new home."
I peeked out the windows to see large skyscapers and a huge river with little boats traveling and a water taxi ferrying people across the river.
"Wow, Dad." Spencer said. "Are we going to be living in a huge building like that or a house?"
"A building, but don’t worry, we have the presidential suite at the very top."
"Presidential? What does that mean?"
"It means," Paula chimed in, "that we have the biggest apartment with 3 floors and huge bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and oh god, it’s just beautiful Spence."
Spencer looked down. "I’ve never had to live in an apartment complex. There are other people living there."
Glen looked over at Arthur. "Any hot chicks?"
Arthur laughed heartily. "There should be."
The pilot announced that the flight was going to land and to put on their seatbelts. Spencer fastened herself in because the thought of plunging downward in a plane made her sick.
As they landed and were whisked away in an all black limosine, they stopped in front of a huge building. "Trump Towers," Spencer read aloud.
"Holy shit. This is where all the famous people live. Hot chicks for me," Glen mused as he rubbed his hands together.
They went up to the apartment and it was already furnished with luxury sofas and beds. Flat screen televisions. Dressers trimmed in gold. Marble floors. Stainless steel kitchen. Black marble and gold plated bathroom. The condo was 3 floors.
Each floor had a bathroom. The 1st and 3rd floor had a kitchen. The 2nd and 3rd floors contained the bedroom. In the center of the apartment, there were pearly white staircases that surrounded a plexiglas elevator. Spencer stared in amazement.
"This is beautiful," Spencer whispered. "I can’t believe this is going to be our beautiful new home."
"Well go on upstairs, princess," said Arthur. "You’ll have to set up for your first day of school and put away most of your things when they get here."
"Okay, Dad."
Spencer ran upstairs and plopped on her king size canopy with a red and gold silk blanket. Tommorrow, will make or break me I guess, Spencer thought.
She sat up and noticed there was a paper on her dresser. "Lincoln High School," she real aloud. There was a beautiful woman on the cover holding a black guitar. Her chocolate strands of hair framed her oval face, and matched her deep brown eyes. She wore a black punk rock belly shirt and a denim blue skirt. Black thigh high heels covered her legs.
She laughed at her clothing. I wouldn’t be caught dead in that, she mused.
"Ashely Davies Rocks Lincoln…"
"Lincoln High is about to get rocked alright. With a touch of class. Time for me to get ready for tommorrow," Spencer said giddily.
She took a shower and took it down for the night. Let’s see what Lincoln has to offer.
