As It Should Have Been – (Chapter: 2.5 – The Morning After – Ashley's POV)

    Chapter 2.5 – The Morning – Ashley’s POV

The pizza has just arrived, and we are watching Saw. Spencer said that she had never seen it, so it was the first thing that I grabbed from the shelf. Well, now I’m thinking that that may have been a bad idea. I knew that Spencer was not good with scary movies, but this is ridiculous. We’re not even five minutes into the movie, and she is hiding her face under a blanket curled up in the corner of the couch. And this movie isn’t even that scary.

“Spencer, do you want to watch something else.”

“No, that’s okay. I’m fine really.”

“You’re not even watching the movie.”

She peaks out from under the blanket, and looks at me forlornly.

“I’m sorry,” she whispers, “I’m terrible with these movies.”

“Awww. It’s okay Spencer it’s just a movie.”

“Can we watch it in your room?”

    “Um, sure.”

‘Why does it matter where we watch it. If it scares her down here…isn’t it going to scare her upstairs too?’

As if reading my mind she says.

“I always feel safer in your room. Especially when I’m in your bed…so if you don’t mind pizza crumbs…could we just cuddle up under the blankets and watch the movie…”

    ‘I love this girl.’

“Sure. Why don’t you go ahead and go upstairs with the pizza and I’ll go get us some drinks, and follow you up there with the movie?”

    “Okay.”

I grab two diet sodas from the fridge and turn off all the lights. She left the door to my room open for me. She looks so adorable…she’s half hiding under the blankets fast forwarding the movie to where we were downstairs. I close the door behind me and she jumps. I laugh.

“We really don’t have to watch that if you don’t want to. We can do something else.”

I sit down on the bed next to her and turn off the TV. She puts the pizza box on the bedside table.

    “What?”

“Well, I could think of a few things I wouldn’t mind doing with you.”

“I actually wanted to talk to you about something,” she says quietly, “can we just talk for awhile?”

“Yeah,” I’m a little confused, “you sound a little worried is everything okay?”
