Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 23: Gettin’ There)
They’d been on the plane for at least a couple hours. At first Ashley was kind of put off by the whole idea. She was afraid of heights…but had only just realized that when the plane had gotten to the stable height. Shouldn’t have looked out the window. Needless to say, whenever the seatbelt light was turned off, she and Spencer switched seats.
It had taken the blonde nearly forty-five minutes to fully calm her girlfriend. So much for being fearless. Ashley was scared out of her wits, and she couldn’t give a fuck that the other girl saw her completely unearthed (pun totally intended) by the whole thing seeing as how she was too consumed with worry that at any minute the pilot would come over the intercom and say that the plane was about to go down.
To pass the time – and keep the brunette’s mind off flying – the girls were locked in an epic battle of Speed. Cards are hard to play on a plane, but Speed’s just insane.
“SPEED!” Spencer shouted (not so loud as to disturb the other passengers), slamming her last card down on the tray.
“What?!” Ashley’s mouth dropped. “You cheated!” she accused.
“I did not cheat! You just suck!”
“Hey!”
“Hi!” the blonde smiled a big toothy smile.
Ashley grunted, “Yeah, you’re adorable…cheater.” The last word was mumbled.
Spencer rolled her eyes and picked up the cards. While shuffling the cards, she eyed the other girl, "If you’re convinced I’m cheating, we could play again. Beat me; I dare you."
"Just deal ‘em out, Carlin; I’ll show you whose boss."
The blonde sighed at Ashley’s attempt to be high-and-mighty, and she set up the cards for another round.
When both girls had their cards, and their hands were ready to flip over the top card of the main piles, Ashley looked up, catching the other girl’s eyes and challenged, "You feelin’ lucky, punk?"
"Definitely." Spencer was unphased by the challenge. "Just say when."
"Now!"
Both girls flipped over the top cards of the two middle piles. An ace and a two. Suits didn’t matter in this game, only numbers. You had to go in order, but it could either be increasing or decreasing. Switched up a lot during the game. You must keep 5 cards in your hand at all times, and there are no turns. You just smack down cards mercilessly wanting to get rid of all your cards in your respective pile.
