North of Somewhere: All Grown Up – (Chapter: Moving…)

The next morning Spencer woke up in Ashley’s old room, surrounded by empty plastic cups and half-full bottles of liquor. Her head was pounding in places she wasn’t aware even existed. To make matters worse, she had fallen asleep on the floor next to Aiden. Ashley was sound asleep on the couch across the room and Lindsay had been the only one fortunate enough to find the bed in her drunken state.

Spencer only had a vague memory of what happened the night before, but she did remember drinking a lot—fast.

    “Hey.”

Spencer looked over at Ashley who had woken up and was now rubbing the back of her head and glancing around the room.

“Hey, what happened here last night?”

“Fuck if I know,” Ashley replied, “what happened to my head?”

“You tried to break dance in the bathroom,” Aiden said suddenly, sitting up and stretching dramatically.

“What? Why would I do that?”

“I don’t know, but I think it happened during Truth or Dare.”

“Truth or Dare? Great,” Ashley said, “how old am I? Ten?”

“Old enough to feel it in the morning,” Spencer said, suddenly aware of how sore she was.

“What time is it?” Ashley asked, searching for her cell phone.

“It’s noon. We should get back to my house, Ash. My dad’s probably worried.”

“Wait, when do I see you two again?” Aiden asked.

“Anytime you want. You can come have dinner at me and Spencer’s place the next time you’re in town,” Ashley replied, winking at Spencer. Spencer smiled back until she saw Lindsay’s mouth drop out of the corner of her eye.

“Wait, you’re not moving in with me?” she asked, sitting up and leaning against the headboard. Her face looked eerily youthful as she stared at Spencer sadly.

“Well, I mean…Linds…I saw you and Rachel at the movies and…”

“And so you decided that you’re not moving in with me?”

“Lindsay, it’s really for the best when you think about it.”

“How? How is it for the best?”

“Can we talk about this later? I have a killer headache, I’m tired. Let’s talk about it tom…”

“Whatever, just admit that this is what you wanted anyway. You wanted to move in with Ashley from the very beginning.”

    1. Uh oh. I’m not too sure about this living together either. Seems like maybe they should strengthen their current relationship a little more before they add the stress of living together into the picture. Or maybe they’ve been through enough together to know exactly what they want. Who knows? I do know that I hope they figure things out soon. I love them together. What’s Lindsay’s deal though?
