Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 12: Behind Closed Doors)

    “Twelve?”

    “No.”

    “Uh…two?”

    “No, Ashley.”

    “Five?”

“Okay, now you’re just guessing,” Spencer said un-amused as she rolled over onto her stomach on the brunette’s bed.

The duo was busy with homework, and the blonde was trying to assist Ashley with her algebra II work.

“God, this is so lame,” the brunette growled as she threw an arm over her face.

“No, kidding,” Spencer agreed, “I’ve already had algebra II and now I have to do it again because you don’t understand.”

“Oh-ho, sorry to disturb little miss over achiever.”

“Over achiever? Ash, we’re supposed to be in math analysis and trig, by now. You’re behind, Babe,” the blonde chuckled as she rested her chin on her hands and looked at a very distressed Ashley.

The brunette merely groaned in response and slammed her open math book down on her face.

“Uhm, try not to give yourself a headache, yeah?”

“Shoot me,” came the muffled reply.

Spencer chuckled and sat up shaking her head. Rob had hopped on the bed, joining them, so the blonde sat with her legs crossed petting the animal lightly, staring at Ashley who was still lying there on her back with the book over her face.

“You gonna try your work again?”

The brunette shook her head from side to side, causing the book to move on her face. She didn’t speak.

“You just gonna lie there and sulk?”

This time the answer Spencer received was a nod. Still no words used, however.

The blonde sighed, “Wrong answer.” She picked Rob up, and dropped her on Ashley’s stomach.

“OOF!” Ashley sat up, quickly, causing the book to fall onto her stomach. The cat had jumped off and was sitting beside her. She narrowed her eyes at the smirking blonde, “Ass.”

Spencer laughed, “Sorry, but you gave me no choice. Now are we gonna try that problem, again?”

Ashley groaned, “Can I take a break?” she poked out her bottom lip in the form of a pout.

“Nope,” the blonde shook her head. “Your grade’s low, and I’m going to help you fix it.”

“But whhhyyyyy?” she let the last word drag out expressing her dread. “I’m not growing up to be a human calculator; I’m gonna be a musician. We don’t need no school!”
