Chapter Thirty-Five

“Come on Spence…we have to drop the ring back off.” Ashley said holding the car door open for her fiancée who refused to budge.

“But it looks so pretty on my hand.” Spencer said staring at the beautiful diamond ring.

“We will pick it up on Monday…come on baby.”

Spencer sighed and handed the ring to the brunette before slowly getting out of the car. She followed the brunette inside and looked around the different cases while Ashley spoke to the saleswoman.

“So what would you like to have engraved on the ring?” The older woman asked Ashley.

“I was thinking ‘To S, Love Always A’…how does that sound? It’s not tacky is it?” Ashley said in a worried tone. She turned to her fiancée and saw Spencer glumly tracing the edges of the cases. “Sweetie…I need your help…” Spencer lifted her head and walked over to where Ashley and the saleswoman were standing. “What do you think about ‘To S, Love Always A.’?”

“That sounds lovely…remember to have it done in script…” Spencer said allowing a small smile to form on her face. She knew that Ashley was trying to make the ring as perfect as possible and she felt a little foolish for all the pouting she had been doing. She wrapped her arms around the brunette’s waist and rested her head on her shoulder. “I love you.” She said softly.

Ashley couldn’t help but smile every time she heard those three words leave the blonde’s mouth. The saleswoman smiled at the beautiful couple and placed the ring into a small bin before taking it to the backroom safe. She returned and handed Ashley a small ticket that she would need to bring in order to claim the ring. Ashley thanked the older woman and grabbed Spencer’s hand before heading back out to the car.

She sat behind the wheel for a few minutes before starting the car up. She turned to the blonde and smiled before pulling out and heading towards the Carlin residence.

Arthur opened the door and smiled at the two girls. He gave them a quick hug before motioning them to come inside. “Would you like anything to eat or drink before we head out?” Arthur asked heading back into the kitchen.
